Donation of goods and services

Donation of goods is a tangible way to support RMIT and its students. A range of donors have supported the University in this way, from donation of equipment to the printing school, to donation of tools and engines to the RMIT Formula SAE Team.

Many people, particularly industry practitioners and alumni of the University, contribute significantly to the present generation of RMIT students by giving their RMIT to act as guest speakers, lecturers, program advisors or mentors. This highly practical way of handing down knowledge and experience is a wonderful complement to the University’s teaching and research programs.

Matching gifts

Many organisations encourage donations from their employees by matching these gifts. Please consider whether this is something your organisation would support.

Cultural gifts

Paintings, book collections, film, sculpture and other resources can all be received by the University, which is a registered recipient under the Cultural Gifts Program of the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts. The program provides tax incentives to encourage gifts of culturally significant items from private collections to Australia’s public art galleries, museums, libraries and archives.

Sponsorship

Sponsorship exposes your organisation to 200,000 alumni, 63,000 currently enrolled students and 3,500 staff. Opportunities include named scholarships, named academic Professorial chairs, named facilities and equipment, and student awards.

Examples:

  • The Australian Defence Organisation (ADO) - ADO has developed a scholarship with RMIT to aid students with their studies and to give them the opportunity to work for the ADO.
  • Siemens – Siemens provides fellowships for postgraduate Fine Arts students, the Siemens Science Experience and the Siemens Prize for Innovation.
  • Fuji Xerox – Fuji Xerox sponsored the “Pursuit of Excellence Award” at the 2007 Printing Industry Training Awards gaining exposure at the event, in publicity material and on the RMIT web site.

Conduct collaborative research with RMIT

Work-integrated learning

Employers want graduates with commercial experience that will add value to their organisation. Many areas of the University have funded learning opportunities within companies – Work Integrated Learning – that provide benefits for the company, the student and the University. The RMIT International Industry Experience and Research Program (RIIERP) meets this demand, providing our partner companies with high-calibre, motivated students. Established in 1992, this is the only program of its kind in Australia, operating in partnership with 140 global companies.

Employ a graduate

The University’s career development and employment unit can help you find industry ready graduates and post-graduates. Opportunities include on-campus information sessions, participation in Careers Expos, advertisements to enrolled students and alumni.
